Winter 2010

Students from the Morgan State University Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture are working with the Powhatan Farms Improvement Association on the design of a neighborhood park on land in the community owned by NeighborSpace. NeighborSpace worked with the Powhatan Farms Improvement Association to acquire 1.5 acres in the community in 2009.   The Morgan students, assisted by their professor, landscape architect Paul Voos, visited the site and met with community members on January 28 and will be developing designs for the site as part of their studio work this semester.   Pictured are Ms. Etta Petty, community member, Ms. Barbara Hopkins, Executive Director of NeighborSpace, Mr. Nathaniel Batey, community member, Mr. Aaron Barnett, President of the Powhatan Farms Improvement Association,  Paul Voos, Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Morgan State University and four students from the Morgan’s Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture.
