Protecting Land to Improve Communities
- Review the applicable procedure, depending on whether the monitoring visit is for
purposes of an initial baseline survey or an annual monitoring visit.
- Review the baseline documentation checklist for a list of materials that comprise
the baseline file for each property and a reference to their location in Google docs:

Helpful Hints for Monitoring
- To properly review a site, you will need access to the property file, which has been
scanned and is stored on our secure Google docs site. If you have never accessed
the site, here are the directions for doing so.
- On the Google docs site, in the “Committees folder,” “Stewardship” sub-folder there
is a file called “Descriptions & Directions to NS Properties” to help you get to
your assigned property.
- If you have any questions or problems, contact Barbara Hopkins by email or at 443-610-8601.

- Review the materials in the baseline file, by signing in to Google docs and using
the checklist to determine the location of relevant files, such as baseline surveys,
easements, aerial maps and property management agreements. Print out a copy of the
aerial map and photopoints for your use during the monitoring visit (unless this
is the baseline visit, in which case you will have to create the photopoints).
- Use the Property Monitoring Form to conduct the monitoring visit by either (1) filling
the form out on a handheld device or tablet while you are conducting the visit; or
(2) printing the form out, recording your observations on a hard copy and entering
the information on to the electronic form subsequent to your visit. To print out
a PDF of this form, click here.
- If this is the baseline survey, review the PhotoPoint Procedure. Use the Photopoint
Record to record photopoints and geotag coordinates.
- Take photos and upload them to the appropriate folder on Picasa. (After clicking
on proper link below, you will need to sign in (top, right corner of page) with the
same email address and password used to access Google docs in order to be able to
upload pics). If this is the baseline survey, scan and upload a copy of your aerial
map showing the location where each photo was taken.
