NeighborSpace House Party

Gratefully dodging rainstorms, NeighborSpace hosted a house party on Thursday, May 22nd. Over 50 attendees gathered in Catonsville at the home of former Board President Klaus Philipsen and his wife Nayna, who graciously offered their space for the event. It was exciting to see a variety of NeighborSpace supporters, from state and county officials to park stewards and neighborhood members, gathering together to discuss the importance and effects of open green space in our local communities.

After a few words from Executive Director Phyllis Joris and new Board President Pat Keller, and a retrospective on Klaus’ Board tenure by longtime Board member Kathy Martin, three park stewardship partners addressed the crowd. Edie Brooks of Chestnut Park in Turner Station, Cliff Palmer of Levickas Woods in Catonsville, and Aaron Barnett of Powhatan Park in Woodlawn shared stories of their respective parks and discussed the importance of these green open spaces to their communities.

NeighborSpace would like to thank everyone who attended this event, and every one of our supporters, for your time, your attention, and your voice. We appreciate the tremendous effort involved in creating and maintaining open spaces in Baltimore County, and we could not do this work without you. Thank you!
